Karmapa in NYC

Live Streaming Webcast of New York City Teaching

Dear Friends,

It is with great joy that we welcome His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa back to New York City, as part of his second visit to the United States.

We are happy to announce that there will be a live streaming webcast of the teaching which will take place on Friday, July 29, at 7:30 pm Eastern Time.

His Holiness will address the essential question we all must answer on the path of awakening: how is compassion related to understanding the true nature of our minds?  As the Third Karmapa taught,

"When the energy of unbearable compassion is unceasing,
In expressions of loving kindness,
the truth of its essential emptiness is nakedly clear.

This unity is the supreme unerring path.

Inseparable from it, may we meditate day and night."

--from "The Aspiration Prayer of Mahamudra"

Please arrive at this online location one-half hour early, by 7:00 pm EST if possible. In this way, you can be sure you have a good connection with the broadcast prior to the start of the teaching. If you encounter technological issues, you may use the link to "live technical assistance."

You are warmly invited to participate in this auspicious occasion; no one will be turned away from this broadcast due to limited funds.  However, if you are able to support Karmapa Foundation's efforts to make these teachings accessible, you are welcome to do so on the "Donate" link on the webcast site.

Since news of this visit to New York City was confirmed only recently, we are grateful to the team of volunteers who are working tirelessly to organize the program, especially this webcast.  May His Holiness' teachings flourish in the ten directions!

Yours in the Dharma,

Planning Committee, Karmapa in NYC 2011
